Behind the Aprons

Pebbles Coffee House has been in Seaton for many years. Close to Seaton's lovely Pebble beach, it has always been a popular place to get delicious coffee, cakes, light lunches and more. It was taken over by Carly and James Tribble in the 90s. Since then the Coffee Shop has become well known for the friendly and warm welcome it offers to every customer who walks through the door.

Owner

James – Devon born and bred, James has lived in East Devon since his teens. The other ‘half’ of the team at Pebbles, he came to Seaton 7 years ago to work with wife Carly at their newly acquired business Pebbles Coffee Shop. He has years of experience in hospitality including working at the popular and busy Ladram Bay as Assistant Manager and being Assistant Manager at the Kings Arms. Today he is in the kitchen at Pebbles creating menus and cooking - which he says he took to like a “duck to water”. Self-taught, his kitchen style is “adventurous and experimental” and is the inspiration behind the fantastic menus.

Matt Sinton
Barista

Matt is one of the familiar faces at Pebbles and known for his warm welcome! He's our longest serving staff member having been with us for 7 years (and also with the previous owner for a similar length of time). He's much loved by all our customers and makes a mean cup of coffee!

Our History

Pebbles Coffee House has been in Seaton for many years. The building itself was originally part of the Gould's Hotel which was in place on the site in 1920s before the sea wall was constructed in Seaton to keep out storm waters and the esplanade was open offering a lovely view across to the beach.

The hotel, which was described as "well-appointed" and a "comfortable establishment" included an impressive dining room with arched ceilings. This dining room is the section of the building that is occupied by Pebbles Coffee Shop today and the arched ceiling structures are still visible.
